Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWe just released the updated build: NetSpot 2.4.582 – /help/netspot-2-4 – it doesn’t solve ALL the issues in relation to OS X 10.10 appearance, but the number of enhancements is tremendous.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterAs a quick workaround, try setting the Scan Interval to 10 seconds or more in Discover mode. This is helping our testers. Obviously Mac OS X is prioritizing access to WiFi, and just drops it for too intensive apps. Still working on a permanent fix. Still hoping Apple fixes the framework. In our tests OS X 10.10.2b2 still buggy.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterThanks for the details. We’ll keep digging now.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWe’ve updated the version of iperf3 used in NetSpot. The new build will be online next week. It’s our main understanding that the developers of iperf3 would apply the fixes in their code if they find them reasonable. We’ll keep monitoring this thread as well.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterThe latest beta is here: https://netspotapp.com/buildz/2.4.x/2.4.581/NetSpot.dmg
In our test lab we were able to get the issue fixed by just upgrading OS X to 10.10.1. Most probably Apple has fixed the issue that appeared in 10.10. However, it would help if you could confirm the fix as well.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterI think this has been resolved. Thanks, Daniel.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterNice. We are also speaking with Apple, as a dev.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterMore users are reporting similar issue. Can you confirm that the problem takes place on OS X 10.10 Yosemite? If yes, is there any chance to test the same with the older Mac OS X releases (like 10.9.5)?
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterAnd again, my apologies. Please see our email now.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterDaniel, thanks so much for reaching our via the forum. Searching or your requests now.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterI’ll follow-up after speaking with our developers. Thanks
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterYou got it. But: /help/talk/topic/using-external-wireless-devices/#post-2840
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWiSpy is not an ideal solution. It’s a radio signal sniffer, and doesn’t provide the exact data we will need for heatmap building. But we are working with them as well.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterRight, we know what you mean here. We understand the overhead in user actions involved. This will be improved. I cannot tell you when exactly. But that’s also on the roadmap.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterSeems like you are not alone with the issue, and we are not alone struggling with the fix: http://www.macworld.com/article/2849258/mac-users-say-yosemite-10-10-1-update-did-nothing-to-fix-wi-fi.html
