Alex – NetSpotKeymasterAirport Express stations seem to have hidden SSIDs. Check it here: http://forum.netspotapp.com/discussion/9/not-detecting-non-broadcasting-aps#Item_5
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWhy haven’t you started a new topic for that? There’s a video step-by-step review on the main page. More are coming, including the detailed knowledgebase. However, be prepared to interpret the results yourself… mostly. Since even a microwave oven or a wireless nanny cam can influence your Wi-Fi coverage. There’s no way NetSpot knows those things. But there’s going to be a recommendations mode in NetSpot 2.0.

Good and simple idea.
jerryshenk said: There are also tools designed for that…like kismet. Designed to be used outside with a GPS.
This one is a very important point actually! I would like to officially draw everyone’s attention that NetSpot has nothing to do with data sniffers. We would not recommend anyone to use the tool which may lead to potential legal issues. Kismet identifies networks by passively collecting packets. It might be difficult for one to prove that the data collected was used to assess wireless network coverage, and not steal someone’s private data. That is why we do our best to stay apart from sniffers’ functionality, NetSpot collects only the most required information using official Apple’s API and displays it as an interactive heatmap. So, please, don’t recommend sniffers at our forum.

Can you just load a map of the outside area? Or do you want to have a feature to define non-scanning areas on a map when selecting the perimeter to scan?
slm4996 said: Multiple BSSID’s
I’ll need to discuss this with the team. I’ll get back to you shortly.
slm4996 said: Also, I am the network administrator for a Higher Education campus. If you would like me to do any feature/debug testing in a real word environment just let me know.
Really appreciated! I’ll keep you posted.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterJust attach them to an email message. Thanks a lot!!!
And yes, the .netspd is what we would like to review. And I want to point out the privacy thing again: it’s strictly for our internal use, no sharing, no posting anywhere.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterjerryshenk said: I was suprised how well in pinpointed the location of APs also.
There will be an update soon, this algorithm is going to be improved!
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterslm4996 said: Also, the ability to apply an alias to the BSSID’s so that identifying individual AP’s is easier. Maybe even a built-in database that we can import our hostnames and BSSID’s into pre-scan?
We are considering this.
slm4996 said: Also being able to specify that multiple bssid’s belong to the same physical AP would be great.
Multi-SSID APs will only be supported in NetSpot 2.0+

Thank you!
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterTrue. This will only be available in NetSpot 2.0
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterslm4996 said: What I really would like to see added to this (Great!) app is an outdoor mode.
Thank you!
slm4996 said: Maybe just the ability to start mapping over an image after you define the scale, but without defining an area?
Can you somehow provide more details of this idea? I really can’t get it what exactly you mean by the outdoor mode…
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterIt would be extremely interesting to have a look at your survey. Can you email your project file (.netspd) to onair@netspotapp.com?
Thanks
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterRight… we fixed this issue.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterRrrrrrright…
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterbxs said: I wonder if this App can be made for the Apple iPad as well….

Alex – NetSpotKeymasterbxs said: multi-level houses
Stay tuned, multi-level surveys will be supported very soon.
bxs said: I wonder if it’s possible to add the device names to the individual pop-ups when clicking on an access point?
We are discussing this.
bxs said: Also, I note that 3 of my Expresses display “Mode PHY 802.11g” whereas one displays “Mode PHY 802.11n”. I wonder if the 802.11n is a later or more recent version of the AirPort EXpress. I do have the Time Capsule 802.11n (3rd Generation) providing my home network, if that helps.
Wi-Fi N is faster. But that doesn’t mean you have to switch all your G hotspots to N if they support it.
