dooversParticipantThanks for the suggestion, it’s a great workaround for issues I was having with Airplay mirroring but unfortunately doesn’t fix the dropouts.

Alex – NetSpotKeymasterNice. We are also speaking with Apple, as a dev.

IngoParticipantHi guys.
Same Problem and maybe a few interesting Information here.
First my Problem. At normal usage Safari, Mail, even uploading big Data over hours to WeTransfer i have no Problems.
But i always have Problems with Airplay Musik from Iphone (IOS 8.1.1) and Laptop (Yosemite 10.10.1) to my AirPort Express.Same Problem forwarding the Sound from my AppleTv to my Airport Express.
So even there is one more problem than only OS X and IOS ?So I installed NetSpot and saw this dropouts.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/c9waksiedjapx9y/Bildschirmfoto%202014-11-28%20um%2017.55.06.png?dl=0But then realized that i don’t get them if i don’t look at NetSpot.
For example here i looked a website for a time. NetSpot was open but not on Focus.
Safari was over it. Then the Graph looks like this.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5m1gkjyz9907xsp/Bildschirmfoto%202014-11-28%20um%2017.54.50.png?dl=0This very interesting Article describes the Problem a bit deeper!
https://medium.com/@mariociabarra/wifried-ios-8-wifi-performance-issues-3029a164ce94
So I thought there has to be a connection and tried to ping during NetSpot.
Verry interesting Result.Pinging my own Router without Netspot!
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0bckpuvbf64fv1y/Bildschirmfoto%202014-11-28%20um%2017.41.44.png?dl=0and With Netspot!!
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cp8qq0o30e0s6p0/Bildschirmfoto%202014-11-28%20um%2017.44.08.png?dl=0So it confirmed what was written in the article.
And just that you get it right, Netspot is not the reason for the Dropoffs.
#############
Perform a speed test (many apps to choose from) and simply pull open the Control Center. This will cause the discoveryd process to browse and advertise services over your WiFi interface.
###############
So every Program that initializes this discovery process will cause this problem and
Netspot probably does this too. Would make sense because it Updates the WLAN List
all the time. The here described workaround didn’t work for me.

Either way, you can fix your Yosemite WiFi issues, at the cost of disabling AWDL and AirDrop, by typing the following command at the OSX terminal:sudo ifconfig awdl0 down
And vice versa to restore AirDrop and AWDL (and the WiFi issues)sudo ifconfig awdl0 up
For clarification: that’s “a w d (lowercase L) (number zero)”

Lightnin93ParticipantI’m using a Mid 2010 MBP 15″ having the same drop outs in Netspot but pings continue to go through.

Alex – NetSpotKeymasterAs a quick workaround, try setting the Scan Interval to 10 seconds or more in Discover mode. This is helping our testers. Obviously Mac OS X is prioritizing access to WiFi, and just drops it for too intensive apps. Still working on a permanent fix. Still hoping Apple fixes the framework. In our tests OS X 10.10.2b2 still buggy.

dooversParticipantFor info, I’m still getting dropouts after update with 10 sec interval…

IngoParticipantThe new pre release 10.10.2 (14C81f) seems stable and no more drop offs finally for me.
December 13, 2014 at 8:51 pm #2881
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterGreat news. We are verifying this now.
December 18, 2014 at 4:01 pm #2892
nick.loweParticipantCertainly great news if this is resolved in 10.10.2!
December 18, 2014 at 4:12 pm #2896
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWe still cannot confirm the fix with 10.10.2. But we see that it was improved on some systems.
December 23, 2014 at 3:23 pm #2902
gazchopsParticipantI am running 10.10.2 (14C81f), still getting the dropouts continuously, unless set to scan at 30sec intervals, then only occasional dropouts! WiFi is rock solid as streaming radio no prob!
December 26, 2014 at 5:11 pm #2906
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWe are testing a number of solutions here. But it seems that 2 identical Macs, 2 identical configs and OS X updates may act completely differently. It’s a kind of selective framework issue. We are keeping an eye on it. Hopefully Apple provides some updates asap.
