Alex – NetSpotKeymasterUnfortunately, we don’t have anything to show you yet. Once we have the beta, or at least something working, we will be glad to upload it to everyone. We are working on several major improvements and updates now.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterHey Jerome, you don’t need to transfer the license in this case. You need a Technician license for your desktop computer. Email me as mentioned above.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterThis one should be easy…
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterOur general recommendation in this case is re-do the survey. But if we are only speaking about you placing the marker in the wrong place, that might be useful. Let me discuss this with the team.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterThere are even more scenarios when map editing might be useful after the survey is completed. But that’s coming later on. Also, make sure whenever new objects or appliances are physically added to the surveyed area, it needs to be re-taken to keep the results up-to-date.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterIt’s surely beneficial to add support of external adapters to NetSpot, we just haven’t come across any Airport-compatible ones. Even this Netis one seems to require it’s own driver and not a single word about support of Airport framework. Jakob, do you have our test utility to verify that?
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterJaokb, sorry for the late follow-up. Let me see which options we may have related to this feature request.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWe verified this again, and it seems Mac OS X will not let you (or us, or NetSpot) choose the exact AP to connect to on multi-SSID networks. Even the WiFi menu in the top-bar lists only networks, no exact APs. The only solution we can think of would be having separate names for 2.4 and 5GHz APs.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterHi Jakob, you are right, we will add this to the knowledgebase. The colors in the sidebar represent the coverage percentage of a specific network within the given area:
The icon is red if the network is found in less than 50% of the area.
It gets to orange for 50-75% coverage.
If the network covers more than 75% – the icon is green.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterDear Hassan,
Do you mean you added aliases for all of these 40 APs? I’m sorry, but I don’t quite see what exactly you want to achieve here.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterVery pertinent questions, Chris. I know I’m a bit too late to follow-up, sorry for that. I am speaking to my team now and will let you know which options are available here.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterDid you check the official iperf3 documentation for that? We are not the developer of iperf3, we just use their ready-made scripts to get the best speed measurements out there…
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterVadim, any news?
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterSo let me reiterate: you enabled Active Scanning when creating a new survey project, you configured iperf3 in Preferences, the test went OK, you started the survey and all visualizations have data but the iperf3 ones. Is this correct? Have you seen NetSpot running the speed test after the wireless sample is over (the blue sample indicator)?
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterNo, no need. Moreover, external WiFi adapters are not supported yet, at least we haven’t succeeded finding any that would support Apple’s AirPort framework. Can you tell me more about your iperf3 setup? At what step exactly does it fail?
