Alex – NetSpotKeymasterIn NetSpot 2.0 you will be able to choose your own colors for wireless signal visualization. However, it’s a kind of industry standard to use cold colors for bad reception areas and hot colors to visualize good signal.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterIt’ll be uploaded this week. Just stay tuned or email us for a test copy.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterHi there, I sent you the link to the updated beta build of NetSpot. Please check if the crash is reproducible and send the crash report via the embedded feedback collector, if it still crashes.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterThank you! Comments like these are extremely welcome
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWe had feedback. And it was a negative one.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterGreat news! Thanks for the update
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterHi there!
juuso said: Problem is, that the measurements aren’t very accurate
What made you think so?
When NetSpot places one sampling point on the map it actually runs 3 polls and approximates the received data. It’s not the matter of the time required to complete the poll.
juuso said: By the way, thank you for the NetSpot. It is amazing, that NetSpot is free software!
Thank you!
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterezarikian said: I think there’s significant value in an iOS version
There definitely is!
ezarikian said: I definitely found the Mac version useful because I found the decibel threshold where the phones and tablets would not work,
Right, that’s a great way to assess your wireless coverage and see how devices with weaker adapters will act.
ezarikian said: I wish there was a way of getting Apple’s attention
“There is no API in iOS. Sorry” – was their reply.
ezarikian said: I also think something might be possible in the realm of “pinging the default gateway and measuring packet loss” .. that might help out if superimposed on the MacBook version of the survey.
You mean using iOS devices for active scanning?
ezarikian said: “smart zoom” in the map and support for vector graphics
Could you send me more details on this idea, please?
ezarikian said: Thanks again for such an excellent piece of software
Thank you for your support!
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterActually possible on jailbroken devices, and then it comes to questioning the professional level of the data you can collect. I can easily demonstrate reception issues with my iPad losing wireless connection in locations where my MacBook has a good quality of connection and gets online.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterHeading on to the updated release to let everyone fix this issue. Seems like it’s related to country channel limitation… btw.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWe are looking into this now.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterGot everything, and I’m sending you the newer build now. It should be working fine for all ranges now. And yes, since the newer release, there’s no need to specify survey borders any more.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWe have an updated build of NetSpot where this issue is supposedly fixed. Sent it to foobar. Waiting for your update on this bug.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWhich build are you using? Have you sent any of your crash reports to us?
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterDefinitely not a bug here. Hiding SSID is also not considered to be a good way to make someone’s network more secure.
