Alex – NetSpotKeymasterDo you mean the list in the info-popover over the heatmap? No need to call it in your case, whenever you hover the heatmap, the values are dynamically updated in the sidebar.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterIt would also help if you could “Send feedback” to us from the app itself, so we could get more details about your Mac. MacBooks from Mid 2013 and Early 2014 are known to have issues with WiFi adapters.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterHi again, kliqks, and my apologies for the delayed reply in this thread. We were handling a number of tests to reproduce the issue you are having, and also waited for some of our team members in the field to report their results after testing many scenarios like yours. In fact, neither of us was able to reproduce the problem with scanning of the hidden SSIDs. Just to proceed with troubleshooting, is it possible that you could clear all known wireless networks in your Mac’s Network Preferences, connect to them again and see whether the survey process is able to detect them?
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterJust emailed you the link with the beta version of NetSpot that has this implemented in Preferences. Please let me know what you think.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterIt does seem to be a bug. We are checking what can be causing it. Hm… one of the latest Apple’s updates? We are working on this issue right now.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterGot the idea. It might even be possible to detect these zones automatically. Let me speak with the team.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterJust as a test, can you try to make the network visible to public (unhide its SSID for a while)? Does this fix the issue?
It does seem there’s a similar issue here: /help/talk/topic/survey-does-not-show-hidden-network/
We are looking into it.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterThat’s weird. Have you entered the hidden network credentials for scanning manually, or have you chosen it from the list of saved networks when starting the survey?
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterCan you share the Discover mode details for the network in question, so we could see how the signal level behaves? You can send the exported values, or the screenshot to onair@netspotapp.com, or share them here. If I got it correctly, the network’s signal does seem to be dropping from time to time. Might it be the issue with the router itself?
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterTo be more specific, do you want to see in one table/visualization each floor/zone, and the channels WAPs are transmitting on? Is your idea to be able to quickly see which WAPs need to be reconfigured so the channels don’t overlap on each floor?
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterHi again, we’ve taken some time to discuss this topic before replying. In fact we were considering 3D/stereo visualizations for NetSpot, but currently this is not on the roadmap. We are not very much excited about investing resources into visualizing WiFi coverage somewhere under the ceiling or below someone’s table, as the signal strength is more important on the level of the measures, and not somewhere else. The signal itself doesn’t change much vertically if there are no obstacles.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterWe’ll add this option to the export dialog. Stay tuned.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterThis feature is still on our roadmap…
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterYeah, totally valid feature request. We were also experimenting with something like this in the early 2.x builds. We have not found a perfect solution yet, but will probably come up with something in the future updates of NetSpot.
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterConcerning your main question here: have you checked NetSpot’s troubleshooting visualizations? I guess that’s exactly what you are looking for.
And we are definitely planning to let users edit the color legend. It was planned in 1.x, in 2.0.x, but always gets postponed by more popular features. Will keep you updated.
