FAQ: Does NetSpot rely on additional hardware to gather data?

Unlike some of our competitors, who rely on proprietary hardware (in many cases, very pricey), at NetSpot we officially promote the following approach: WiFi should be measured with the devices that your patrons will use.

While we are always in consideration whether or not to add support for external hardware for WiFi polling, we still find it most beneficial to rely on the actual hardware present in consumer network devices, i.e. the built-in WiFi adapters in MacBooks, Windows laptops, Surface Pros, Android phones and tablets, etc.
