NetSpot for iOS wouldn’t be able to scan for wireless networks, that’s right. But you can still support several brands of wireless access points, and at least some of them can give you client statistics via SNMP.
The Airport Extreme MIB is available, for example. And it should be easy to do with other common router brands as well.
