ctdaweParticipantI would like NetSpot to be able to remember several pieces of information as the defaults for a survey file:
1. I would like NetSpot to remember the zoom level for a floor plan that I’m using so that I don’t have to re-zoom every time I open the file.
2. I would like NetSpot to remember if I have customized visualization settings for a certain category of data in one of my survey files. For example, if I set Maximum Signal Level to -40dBm, I would like NetSpot to remember that for that survey the next time I open the file.
3. I would love to be able to define some defaults in the application that allow me to pre-set such criteria as Maximum Signal Level, etc.
4. Finally, I’m unclear on what triggers NetSpot to recalculate results in a survey to display new interpretations of its data. I’d love it if there were more feedback from the application regarding what it’s doing.
If any of this already exists in the application, I haven’t found it yet. If it does,

ctdaweParticipantOh, and to complete the comment: If it does, I haven’t found it and may require assistance.

Alex – NetSpotKeymasterHi there, thanks for your comments…

Zoom level… hm… ok! I’ll let you know when this might be available.

Version 2.0. Already planned.

Makes sense. I need to discuss this with my team first.

Didn’t get this one. What exactly do you mean? If you don’t add any new data (sampling points), don’t switch the visualization and don’t change networks’ selection, data shouldn’t be recalculated by itself.

ctdaweParticipantAs far as 4 goes, I should probably time it with a stopwatch, but in some instances the app *feels* like it takes longer to start working on an updated display when I change criteria such as maximum signal strength or the SSID that I’m visualizing. While I’m waiting, the application doesn’t give much feedback, so it can be hard to tell what the application is doing. I suppose what I’d really like is some feedback from the app that “I’m thinking about your change.”
Alternatively, I might like to be able to engage an “edit” action in an existing survey so that I can change several parameters and then explicitly tell the application “okay, start working based on this new set of parameters”. In particular, I don’t necessary want NetSpot to start chewing on data if I’m not done updating parameters.
Does this help?

Got it now. We will fix this in NetSpot 2.

Acceptable and useful feature request. Added to our roadmap. Thanks

Marisa_NetSpotParticipantHello,
I’m glad to inform you that the new beta version of NetSpot is already available for tests. I’ve sent you the link to the beta build.
