ZHaDoomParticipantIs there a way to edit or delete data points, I have a survey that currenly has 40 data points, but two are in the wrong location. I would hate to have to start over.

Alex – NetSpotKeymasterYes, you will have to redo it, unfortunately. Data was already measured, and moving data collection points will ruin the survey accuracy. That is why we let you undo only 1 data point at time, the last one, then the other one, etc.

ZHaDoomParticipantThe floor plan that the survey was done on, had a wall in the wrong place. I would much rather delete the two points then spend the 4 hours to go back on site and redue the survey.
Otherwise the program worked pretty well, I had some issues with errors taking samples at times, but a retry or reboot would solve the problem.
Keep up the good work.

Alex – NetSpotKeymasterI assume you’ll have much fewer errors with the new release of NetSpot 1.2.

So do you just want to change the underlying map?

HangasParticipantI honestly don’t quite understand how can delete any random point could ruin the whole survey. Its just to “pretend” that that particular point was never measured.
Isn’t it just a matter of removing all point associated data from the collection and recalculate the whole set?
January 11, 2012 at 2:16 pm #1582
Alex – NetSpotKeymasterIt’s mathematics… That point you want to delete influences data on other samples you have taken. Why would you want to delete that point? If you have taken it and marked your position incorrectly, I believe you should have redone this one right away.

HangasParticipantOk, so I understand that when you collect data from a point you consider data from previous points? I had an ideia that the information of each point was independent and the path was considered for the final calculations. The problem is that I have a some points wrongly marked and I prefer to loose them then to redo it all over again. It’s about 1000sq meters of openspaces and offices. Anyway, thanks for a great product!

Alex – NetSpotKeymasterIt’s really unfortunate that the wrong position of the sample point was not corrected right away. That’s what the undo is for. I’m talking to the team about at least removing any points from the survey. Hold on.

markuhdeParticipantAny update on this? I have one anomalous data point in a survey file I did (Marisa has that survey file, I sent it in with regards to some issues, you can kinda see a triangle of stronger coverage due to one point). The point was marked correctly, but for some reason, the signal was especially strong at the moment the point was collected or something? The numbers are accurate but literally only in that one spot (odd reflection or something). It would be great to be able to have a feature to click to remove spots like that which cause the map to be less accurate as a whole.
Such a feature shouldn’t harm survey integrity, because each point’s data should not affect other point’s data. So the app would simply need to re-render without that point in the survey file.

Alex – NetSpotKeymasterMarisa, can we ask the devs to remove that point for Mark manually?
Mark, the good news is: NetSpot 2.0 will let you remove samples randomly. We still won’t let users move them around the map, but you’ll be able to delete them.

markuhdeParticipantHi Alex, I got that message from Marisa, it’s no big deal, I have to re-do that entire survey this week anyways, it’s just a tool for me and I know the data point that’s messing with it, so no need for that hassle. I just referenced it so you could see the why – one data point that’s anomalous can really affect the map if, say, I wanted to give these maps to my clients. Which I never would, at least not yet (not without being able to set colors and transparency of the overlay, etc) – clients get a stylized map made in Photoshop. This is a tool for me to start making those maps more accurately. Just an idea for the future so we can make the maps more “client-friendly” by doing things like taking out hot spots made from one oddly strong point. Looking forward to NetSpot 2.0. Any idea when it’ll be out or a public beta test made available? If you need testers, I’d be happy to test it out.

Alex – NetSpotKeymasterNo dates yet, unfortunately. But we’ll be reaching out when we need testers. Thanks

markuhdeParticipantSad, but thanks for the amazing work and the great product. Really interested also in what the pro version you’ve hinted at might have :)

Marisa_NetSpotParticipantHello,
I sent you the link to the beta build of NetSpot 2.x. Note that removing of any sampling point is allowed in this version of the software.
