    Hi,

It would be way cool, if there could be a way to make a ‘3d’ map of the AP’s in a survey and show channel usage/overlap/bleeding.

2.4GHz is the most critical, but i assume 5GHz is knocking on the door as well..

Maybe simply remove the drawings and make a 3d space with AP’s – if needed, make it possible to mark a reference point (or two) on each floor plan. (Like a common elevator shaft etc..)
And then set the height of each floor/a default floor height.

Hi again, we’ve taken some time to discuss this topic before replying. In fact we were considering 3D/stereo visualizations for NetSpot, but currently this is not on the roadmap. We are not very much excited about investing resources into visualizing WiFi coverage somewhere under the ceiling or below someone’s table, as the signal strength is more important on the level of the measures, and not somewhere else. The signal itself doesn’t change much vertically if there are no obstacles.

Ok, nice to get some feedback.

I’m actually thinking more about 3D channel planning, not detailed signal level coverage.

To be more specific, do you want to see in one table/visualization each floor/zone, and the channels WAPs are transmitting on? Is your idea to be able to quickly see which WAPs need to be reconfigured so the channels don’t overlap on each floor?

    Yeah, that sounds like it.
It’s not that hard to make an Excel table of a building with AP’s in one row, but as soon as you start to have buldings that bend and curve, it becomes more difficult.
