    Following
    /help/edit-servers-download-upload-speed/

when I edit the /Users/UserName/Library/Preferences/com.etwok.netspotwifi.plist file, launching netspot 2.2.453 it overwrites the changes I made putting it back to https://www.netspotapp.com/speed/speed02.php etc

Is there anything else i’m missing.
    MacBook Air, OS X 10.9

    Thanks in advance

Does the same happen with NetSpot 2.2.460? It was released a few days ago: https://www.netspotapp.com/downloads.html

    Alex,

I’ve just installed the new version, when loading NetSpot and choosing the survey tab, the file gets updated (using TextWrangler, it updates in realtime and I can see the changes).

I am modifying /users/user/Library/Preferences/com.etwok.netspotwifi.plist as the file doesnt exist in /library/preferences

Hi there, you should try the beta build that I sent you via email. Also, make sure you are editing custom servers when NetSpot is not running.

Alex, sorry for the delay, trying the beta build still had the same results.

Edit file, load new version (keeping the file visable on screen), wait a few moments and the file changes back.

Is NetSpot _NOT_ running at the moment when you edit the plist’s?

These instructions are incorrect and don’t work for Mavericks. plists are cached in 10.9 and you can’t simply edit plist file directly. To set it run this in Terminal:

    defaults write com.etwok.netspotwifi.plist UploadSpeedURL upload-url
    defaults write com.etwok.netspotwifi.plist DownloadSpeedURL download-url

(Replace upload-url and download-url with your custom URLs)

    This will work pre-Mavericks too.

Hi Marko, thanks for this note. You are by all means right! We will correct the instructions asap. And in fact, this will be integrated into NetSpot’s preferences soon. So no manual editing of plist files will be needed.

And I’m glad to let everyone know that this has been integrated into NetSpot’s Preferences: /help/netspot-2-4
