I was wondering what the software uses to get results for download and upload. Is it on a specific port? I was running a site survey today, and was not able to get download speeds. This might be due to policies implemented here in the firewall.
It’s not IPERF currently. NetSpot exchanges some data with scripts hosted at netspotapp.com, so you might want to check if the website is available from the network you surveyed.
netspotapp.com is available and not being blocked; however some ports might be. A good solutions, might be to use anything running on port 80, 81, or 463 all on SSL. SSL is rarely blocked in enterprise environment as it is necessary for the functionalities of many applications.
Do you know which ports the tests are being ran on?
Thanks again.
Speed test use standard HTTP port, so this shouldn’t be the issue. Can you send us an internal report after you experience this error again, using “Ask a question” option on the toolbar?
