Is it possible to get *actual* Wi-Fi network performance vs. what rate one connects at.

    Thanks advance for your reply.

Do you mean upload/download speed by “actual network performance”?

I would like to second the request for the capability to measure actual performance of my local network, both the WiFi portion and the wired (Ethernet, powerline) portions. My interest in this capability was piqued by an article in today’s (9/18/2012) Wall Street Journal titled, “Why Wi-Fi Is Often So Slow,” that mentioned one person’s experience improving their network “buying about $400 of Apple Inc. devices that enhance the in-home wireless connection.” I’ve read about Windows-based software for measuring local network performance at http://www.smallnetbuilder.com, but not Mac software. There are professional tools for this purpose, but none that are affordable for home users — and given the Wall Street Journal article, I think there is plenty of latent demand for an affordable LAN measurement software tool for Macs.

    Hello,

I’m glad to inform you that the feature which allows you to measure download and upload rates is available in the new beta version of NetSpot 2.x. I’ve sent the link to download it to your email address.
