Xfinity by Comcast customers can choose from multiple plans based on which region they live in. The cost of otherwise identical plans is often different for each region. That’s because Xfinity plans are priced based on individual local market dynamics.
Northeast Division:

The two most interesting plans available in the Northeastern US are Performance and Performance Pro. The former is interesting because you don’t have to sign a contract to get it, while the latter is interesting because it offers highly competitive speeds for just $5 more than what the Performance plan costs.

Customers in the Central US can get the equivalent of the cost-effective Performance Pro plan, called Fast, for $10 less than what customers in the Northeastern US have to pay for what’s essentially the same plan. Unfortunately, all Central US plans come with a 1.2 TB monthly data cap.
West Division:

Xfinity internet plans intended for the Western US also come with a 1.2 TB monthly cap, and they cost even less than their counterparts from the Central US.
As you can see, all Xfinity internet plans are asymmetrical, which means that your download speeds will always greatly exceed your upload speeds. That’s just how things are with cable internet.
The good news is that any speed test of Xfinity plans is guaranteed to confirm that all plans are fast enough for basic online tasks, such as web browsing, emailing, instant messaging, online gaming, and content consumption.
The limited upload speeds can become a problem when multiple people who are all sharing the same internet connection have to attend online video calls at the same time, or when one person starts uploading a large file.
To make the most out of any Xfinity plan, you will need a good router. For extra $14 a month, Xfinity will happily rent you an xFi Gateway, a sleek device that combines an internet/voice modem with a fast Wi-Fi router. There are several xFi Gateways to choose from, and they all come with advanced security to protect you from online threats. Since there are no dedicated Xfinity Wi-Fi plans, paying the extra monthly rental fee is the only alternative to supplying your own Wi-Fi router.
